Plenty of neighborhoods in the Tucson area are gay-friendly. Downtown features shopping, while the northwest side of town is filled with dining establishments.

Sunrise at River Road is a unique senior home location on the northwest side of town. The landscape is kept up nicely so residents have a great view to enjoy, while fresh flowers are kept in close distance. A special support group is offered at this location.

Another unique location is Atria Campana Del Rio. It is located on East River Road. This welcoming senior community offers a spanish-style architecture that boasts a cultural, artsy appearance. The peaceful setting is what many dream of when looking for a final place to call home.

Tucson Events

Tucson Gay Pride is a yearly event where a number of unique activities are featured. The G3 Pride Party is one option. The event typically begins toward the end of September, but dates can change from year to year. Tucson Pride features a pride in the park day, pride on parade, live music performances, and queen of comedy sketch.

Retro Game Show Night is another common event held in the area. It is held at the Hotel Congress on the second Saturday of each month. The night is typically hosted by Tempest DuJour, who puts a fun take on 80’s and 90’s style game shows. Anyone can enter their name to become a contestant, or can watch from the audience.

Tucson Support

The Tucson Prime Timers is a group for mature men. They can get together for recreational activities, or they can join for a support session. There are regular events held, as well as special events to attend. The group allows gay and bisexual men to find others with similar interests and discover friendships that can last the rest of their lifetime.

PFLAG Tucson is also available for support. The group is intended for friends and family of any lesbian and gay loved ones. People can come to receive education, support, or advocacy. Support sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month. They run from 7 to 8:30 p.m, and are typically held at the Ward VI City Council Offices. There is also a helpline where people can receive immediate support services, which can be reached at 360-3795.

During the last Wednesday of every month, the Sunrise at River Road living community offers a support group. Seniors can RSVP to attend the meeting and receive advice and guidance on things going on in their lives. It meets between 10 and 11 a.m. Anyone can come for lunch and a tour if they desire. The doors are open to seniors so they always feel they have a place to go when needed.
