There are several appealing attributes that make the area so well-liked, including the vibrant arts, beach settings, and culinary uniqueness. Sarasota is an LGBT community fit for anyone.

Living in Sarasota

Plenty of gay-friendly neighborhoods are included in Sarasota. Industrial Boulevard is one of the most common places where LGBT is a common acronym to hear. Throb Nightclub is located in this area, which is just a few minutes away from downtown where shopping and dining is a favorite pastime for many.

Cream is also located in this section of town. Drag shows, theme parties, and high-end cocktails are included in this one night event held every Thursday. It is located at The Ivory Lounge. The lounge acts as a regular hotspot the rest of the week, with electronic hits and hip-hop pulsing the soundboard and hyping up a dancing crowd.

Autumn of Sarasota is an independent living community with a gorgeous atmosphere. Residents can enjoy their time outdoors, inside, or in the city whenever they please. Regular game nights, movie nights, and special classes are held at this location.

Sarasota Sightseeing

Sarasota Pride is definitely a sight to see in the city. This event is held each year, opening the doors between LGBT and non-LGBT members of the community. The goal is to eliminate prejudice and celebrate differences. It is typically held in October.

The Sarasota Opera is another great place to visit. It is wise to come early for drinks and stay after for a full discussion of the event. Regular shows are held at the operahouse.

The Players Theatre hosts monthly drag queen bingo. The event is always sure to amuse with some drag queen comedians making their way to center stage. Other events are also held at this location that people can attend when they want to enjoy a fun night out.

Sarasota Support

Prime Timers Sarasota is a group intended for mature men who are either gay or bisexual. Their companions can also attend as long as they over 21. Both education and social activities are held regularly, in order to provide a bit of something everyone needs. Some events allow group members to socialize, while others are just for support and guidance, as well as education on concerns in the community.

Trans residents of Sarasota can partake in the SWFL Trans Support Group. A transfeminine group is held on the first Saturday of each month. The transmasculine group meets on the second Saturday of each month. The third Saturday of the month is reserved for loved ones of trans and gender expansive folks. Family members and friends may have questions that they want to discuss, or simply need to talk to others about the changes their loved one is going through, and the difficulties it can raise.
