Local San Jose Resources for Veterans

There are a number of resources, communities, and organizations available to veterans right in San Jose. Here are just a few of the local centers that you can get involved with to receive veteran benefits and services:

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System – San Jose Clinic: As part of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, the San Jose Clinic is located at 80 Great Oaks Boulevard. As a medical clinic provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, veterans can receive care for things like PTSD, substance abuse, optometry, occupational therapy, and more at the San Jose Clinic.

The County of Santa Clara Office of Veterans Services: The Office of Veterans Services at the County of Santa Clara help individuals who have spent time in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard receive the benefits they are entitled to from their service.

California Statewide Resources for Veterans

As the home to almost 2 million veterans, California offers a variety of organizations and communities to the military service men and women who live in their state. If you are in need of additional services or support, here are some statewide resources available to veterans in California.

The Veterans Support Foundation: The Veterans Support Foundation helps veterans and their families in ways that can improve their life. They also have a Supportive Housing Program aimed to help prevent veteran homelessness.

National Chapters Available in San Jose

In addition to veteran support on a local and state level, vets in San Jose can also receive support from national organizations with chapters located in the area. The Veterans of Foreign Wars has posts located in the San Jose area. For veterans looking to get involved in the community, the VFW can provide social events and lasting connections.

Recognizing Veterans in the San Jose Community

The city of San Jose uses Veterans Day to recognize those in the community that has given their time to the military. The National Veterans Day Run, which takes place in San Jose, offers runners the option to complete a half marathon, 11K, 5K, and 1-mile walk or run.
