Managing Adult Day Care Costs in San Francisco

Managing senior care costs can be trying for both your loved one and your family. The good news is that adult day care center costs are much lower than traditional in-home care or nursing home stays. According to the Genworth 2015 Cost of Care Survey for California, the average daily rate for a nursing home stay using a private room is $480. In-home care for an eight-hour shift averages $224 per day.

The average daily rate for an adult day care center in San Francisco is $76.

Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program, does cover adult day care for low-income Californian seniors. The VA provides an additional pension to veterans and their surviving spouses to cover senior care. Your loved one can also use a long-term care insurance policy to cover adult day care costs or ask the center about sliding scale fees.
