Vintage Golden Gate is another great San Francisco option. It was rated 4.5 stars for excellence. There is a semi-private room that can be shared with a roommate, or there is a studio or one-bedroom available. The daughter of one of the residents says, “every staff member has been kind and helpful.” Her family is “completely at ease with [their mother’s] care.”

In-Home Care

Your loved one can remain in their home as long as they receive regular in-home care. Home Care Assistance was rated the best in 2016 for their in-home care service. Reviewers indicate that this company provides a valuable service and they have had good experiences overall with the caregivers.

Assisted Living

Just a half hour away in Walnut Creek, Atria Valley View earned the 2016 best assisted living award. There are studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom living quarters available. Complimentary transportation is provided to appointments. There are also a number of indoor and outdoor activities, with a large outdoor commons area available to enjoy. One reviewer said, “this is a great home for me. The staff is great. The food is very good and a nice variety.” Another indicated, “the staff seem attentive and friendly.” “The community is clean and beautiful [and] they offer a lot of activities.”

Another short drive away, Carlton Senior Living Downtown is located in Pleasant Hills. Semi-private, studio, and 1-bedroom accommodations are available. More than 20 reviews can be found on the site, many of which indicate a positive living experience. According to one reviewer, “the place has a pretty inner courtyard.” Another person says, “the community is wonderful and beautiful… They also keep the community nice and neat.”

Alzheimer’s Care

If your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s, it is best to set them up in a facility with trained staff who are more than capable of handling their needs. AlmaVia of San Francisco is a valid option. There are semi-private and studio rooms available, as well as 1 and 2 bedroom options. “The staff is very nice and helpful” according to one resident’s family member. Another family member discusses how the place is quite large, with multiple floors. One floor is entirely dedicated to memory care.
