Best of San Diego Senior Living 2016

When the time comes to get extra help with your daily tasks or even move into a long-term care facility, you want to make sure that you choose the best place. SeniorAdvisor.com wants to help which is why they have the Best of Senior Living Awards each year. These awards are given to facilities across the country based on the reviews and comments of users in the community. You can find out more about the award criteria here, and if you keep reading you can find some of the best facilities in San Diego.

Assisted Living

Assisted living communities offer the best of both an independent lifestyle and daily assistance. Seniors can get help with the daily tasks they can no longer do on their own and focus on enjoying their retirement years with amenities.

Belmont Village Sabre Springs is an assisted living community that is located in the northeast area of San Diego. It is a mission-style community that features beautiful views of the valley and has pools, walking trails, and putting greens. There is a licensed nurse on staff 24/7, chef-prepared meals in community dining rooms, free transportation services, and fitness classes. Residents can also choose to live in a private apartment or cut costs by sharing a home with another resident.

Residents and family members love the gorgeous facility and the outdoor activity areas. They also appreciate the friendly and prompt staff as well as great amenity services. A daughter wrote that “The staff and facilities are wonderful and have made my Mom’s transition to her new home very pleasant.”

Alzheimer’s Care

These living facilities have staff that is highly trained to handle residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss conditions. There is heightened security to minimize wandering and specialized cognitive activities to help work the minds of the residents.

Elmcroft of Point Loma is a facility dedicated to the care of Alzheimer’s and other memory loss residents. They offer a variety of living styles including private and shared apartments, common areas to socialize and eat, and everything is easy to access for maneuverability. Each resident can decide what they would like to do each day and care programs are centered around their culture, life history, and memory needs.

Family members of the residents like that the place is clean, and that the staff is attentive and friendly. Many are also impressed with the beautiful views and outdoor facility. A daughter said that ever since her Mom has reached the late stages of her dementia, she is truly in her own world, but “I am more than pleased with Elmcroft of Point Loma for many reasons. They are caring, kind, and compassionate. They are small enough that mom isn’t “lost” in the facility, but large enough that she can do the walking she loves.”

Belmont Village Of Sabre Springs (see Assisted Living above) also has an Alzheimer’s care unit and has a person-centered approach to Alzheimer’s care. Daily routines are highly structured so residents feel comfortable and there is specially trained staff on duty 24/7 to handle any emergencies.

Independent Living

Independent living is like moving into a resort. You can get all of the same amenities and have the freedom to pursue your hobbies without having to worry about maintaining your home.

Belmont Village Of Sabre Springs (see Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care above) again has made the list for independent living. This community features private apartments, an onsite fitness center, pool, salon and spa services, and chef-prepared meals in restaurant-style dining.

In-Home Care

In-home care allows seniors to get the health care services they need all from the comfort of their own home. You can personalize your care based on your needs and schedule.

24 Hr Homecare offers a full range of non-medical home care services to fit the needs of any senior that needs some extra help around the house. They are available 24/7 so whenever you need them, you can get help. They only use trusted caregivers and have a real-life monitoring system so they can accurately track the hours of their caregivers. Also, they routinely conduct supervised visits to make sure the client is satisfied with their care.

Users love the friendly staff, prompt response time, and the fact that they can get care whenever it’s needed. One client wrote, “They get here on time, and they treat us like family.” And another said, “The girl that was here with my mother was wonderful. They were very helpful. I was very happy with the service we received.”
