The city of San Antonio has plenty to offer, with historic sites, a wide variety of restaurants, and popular attractions. Delicious Dining in San Antonio

Restaurant Gwendolyn takes people back to a time when ingredients were grown locally. The chef, Michael Sohocki, only uses ingredients within 100 miles of his restaurant. He even butchers his own meat. The place is not only unique because of the local ingredients; it also uses no electricity in the kitchen. All menu items are prepared like they would have been in the olden days. The mainly also changes daily. Sohocki was nominated for The James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southwest. Reservations can be made online, or by calling (210) 222-1849.

Enjoy a pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven, shipped straight from Naples, Italy. Dough delivers pizza that is made fresh from local ingredients. Even the cheese is homemade. Burrata, Dough’s signature cheese option, is an Italian offering with a buttery taste. Mozzarella and cream fill the inside, with a mozzarella outer layer. Wine is also served at this pizzeria Napoletana.

Shop Like a San Antonian

Before heading inside the North Star Mall for shopping, many enjoy standing next to the world’s largest pair of cowboy boots. The sight is even better at night, when the boots are all lit up and filled with stars. Once people make their way inside, they can head off to one of the many shops. Stores for fashion, health and beauty, shoes, housewares, and more fill the spaces. The Disney Store is a fun one to visit, while Godiva Chocolatier offers some tasty treats.

The Shops at La Cantera is an upscale mall with high-end retailers. Coach, Nordstrom, New York & Company, and Kendra Scott are just a few that fill the shop spaces. The first phase of the mall was opened in 2005, with the second phase going up in 2008. In 2006, the award was won for Superior Achievement in Design & Imaging.
