Things to Do in Saint Paul

The cold weather of Saint Paul does not have to keep you trapped inside. The area is made up of plenty of things to see and do year-round, no matter what the weather. From museums and historic sites to outdoor exhibits and sports, Saint Paul has it all. Take a day or two and explore what the city has to offer.

Treasure the Saint Paul Arts

The Minnesota Museum of American Art allows you to explore your community like never before. See the latest exhibits or revisit some of the past collections. The museum is open for free admission four days a week, Thursday through Sunday.

Revisit Local Saint Paul History

Visit the olden days of Saint Paul by exploring the Landmark Center, managed by the Minnesota Landmarks Committee. Music, dance, and theater are just a few of the cultural aspects showcased at the center for you to enjoy.

Various homes-turned-history-museums also make up the Saint Paul area. The James J. Hill House and Alexander Ramsey House provide two possibilities. Guided tours lead you through the hallways of these homes from the 1800s.

Explore the Great Outdoors

Garden exhibits and animals of the world get showcased at the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. Not only can you see a giraffe, polar bear, and reindeer in one place, but you can also enjoy the many additional attractions located within the space. Como Lake sits at the site, as well as an area for mini golf, the Como Pool, and Music in the Park series.

Enjoy Saint Paul Sports

McMurray Fields sits in the Como parks region. It features three soccer fields, six softball fields, and an area for baseball. Enjoy some milder sports here or visit Xcel Energy Center to watch some hockey. It is home to the Minnesota Wild hockey team.

Celebrate the End of Summer at the State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair allows you to celebrate the end of summer. It typically takes place at the end of August and finishes around Labor Day. You can choose to enjoy the fair food and games or attend one of the many special events that take place on any given night, including a concert or grandstand event.

Make Time to Unwind

Taking a day to explore the city can leave you exhausted. Make time to unwind after a long day by visiting one of the many Saint Paul spas or hotels. The LifeSpa at Highland Park stays open until 9 pm most days. Skin care and massage are two of the main focuses at this spa.

Estetica Salon & Day Spa provides the ideal location for relaxing while someone else tends to your hair, skin, or nails. Get a shampoo and style or a dual exfoliation facial. You can even opt for a massage, choosing from a basic 15-minute chair massage to a full 120-minute massage that leaves you fully relaxed. Add-on treatments include deep tissue, hot stones, restorative eye therapy, and even a couples massage for two.
