Catholic Health Care in St. Louis

St. Louis boasts a number of Catholic health care locations designed with seniors in mind. The area is home to numerous assisted living facilities and hospitals. Seniors looking for this type of care can search through the city’s resource information to find the right place for them.

Nazareth Living Center

A non-profit community for seniors, Nazareth Living Center has beautifully landscaped grounds that residents walk along with friends. The Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet founded the center. Independent living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and skilled nursing and rehabilitation are all offered. Long-term care works better when family is involved. Residents feel more at ease knowing their family will be visiting them, joining in on meetings, and being there in general.

Catholic Health Association

The Catholic Health Association of the United States is an important resource for all people of the Catholic faith. Various facilities and institutions that adhere to Catholic teachings are listed on this site. Specific sections for nursing and pastoral care are available. Parish Nursing is one option discussed. This is when one nurse provides services to the entire parish. Sacraments and prayer are used to promote healing.

Mercy Hospital St. Louis

The Mercy Hospital St. Louis location is the number one trauma center in the county. All rooms are private, allowing individuals the privacy they need in their time of healing. Palliative care is offered at this hospital in order to provide assistance to those dealing with an ongoing battle. Support and service are both offered. Healing treatments, pain management, pastoral care, and more are offered.

St. Louis Altenheim

St. Louis Altenheim is a senior living boutique. A variety of living options and features are available to choose from. Memory care, supportive living, short-term stays, nursing care, continuum of care, and independent living are the choice available. Supportive living is designed for those who want to live on their own, yet require daily assistance with activities. This may include dressing, bathing, housekeeping, and making meals.

Short term stays are available for those who only require assistance during a short period of time. This is typically during an illness, or while waiting for a family member to make accommodations. It is often a nice break for the resident as they get to experience somewhat of a vacation, and stay in a home away from home. Assistance with activities is also provided, with round-the-clock care available.

Mother of Good Counsel Home

Individual care plans are provided at Mother of Good Counsel Home. Staff members meet with residents and family members in order to discuss the plan of care and the various aspects of life offered at MGCH. Residents may make needs heard, and have them included in the daily plan.

Residents may choose to keep seeing their own doctor if desired, or they can choose between the two doctors that frequent the home. These physicians make regular visits to the area so no transportation is needed.
