Social Security takes a big part in most senior citizens lives so it can be frustrating if you don’t understand something or don’t know where to turn for help. Here in Sacramento, there are actually a few different locations you can visit to get all the Social Security help that you need and now there is an online website that can make understanding your benefits faster and easier. There are plenty of resources both online and in person that will let you get the most out of your benefits and address any issue that might occur.
There are four different Sacramento locations that you can go to get help with your Social Security.
There is an office at 8581 Folsom Blvd. Social Security office at 2424 Arden Way #200 Services at 40 Massie Cr. Social Security office at 825 Riverside Pkwy. #1000
All of these locations open at 9:00 A.M. and are open Monday through Friday. If none of these locations work for you there are two other options. You can call the SSA toll-free number at (800)-772-1213 or TTY at (800)-325-0778 and reach a live representative Monday through Friday 7 A.M. to 7 P.M with a 24-hour automated feature for some services.
You can also use the SSA office locator and find the nearest office to your zip code.
Your local Social Security office can take care of pretty much anything that you need but what do they offer specifically for seniors? Most of the time this is where you will go to get your retirement benefits as well as plan for your future. You can also apply and receive disability benefits. If you’re the sole survivor after a loved one’s death, you may also be eligible for benefits then as well.
Your local office can also handle things like work incentive programs. If you are a Social Security disability beneficiary but still want to be able to work, you can take advantage of a few different programs.
The first is Plan for Achieving Self-Support or PASS. This program is for those on disability who want to be able to achieve certain work goals like moving to a higher position or even starting your business. You can do all this with the program’s support and meet all your work related goals. Ticket to Work is the other program that helps those on disability receive job training and prepare for higher paying jobs.
Finally, your local office is where you should go if you have lost your card or need to change your name on a new card. They can also handle lost or damaged Medicare cards as well and if you would like a speaker to come and present to a group about Social Security benefits you can find the request form here.
Not only can you find help and services at your local office, you can get all the assistance you need online. If you would prefer to stay in your home while still getting assistance with your benefits, the SSA has created a whole list of online services to make that happen. Online you can do things like:
Request a new card View benefits statements Apply for benefits Estimate future benefits
