Raleigh Senior Realtors

If you are faced with the emotional stress and financial constraints of moving and selling your home, a senior realtor can assist you. You will find plenty of senior realtor professionals in the Raleigh area that are certified and trained to address the needs of North Carolina’s senior citizens.

Senior Realtor Services

Senior realtors are professionals trained to meet the needs of senior citizens during the difficult time of selling and/or purchasing a home. Senior realtors are certified through the National Association of Realtors as a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). Another certification available in North Carolina includes the Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP) through the Seniors Real Estate Institute. Both organizations provide training and continuous education specifically targeting the needs, care, and issues that seniors face.

Senior realtors work with an expansive list of professionals that include social workers, professional organizers, estate sales companies, senior move managers, financial advisors, and elder-law attorneys.

Senior Realtor Professionals’ Clientele

Senior realtor professionals meet the needs of seniors age 50 and above. This clientele can include seniors still in the workforce and at the height of their career or seniors new to retirement. Seniors facing ill health or the death of a spouse may require the services of a senior realtor to help them downsize and prepare a home for market, financing a new home or assisted living community, and finalizing the purchase of the new home.

When to Begin Working with a Senior Realtor

Senior realtors are useful in preparing your home for the market and can make recommendations that can possibly increase the purchase price, such as decorating ideas and renovations. Senior realtors are trained to not sound insulting or condescending and demonstrate patience and compassion with their clients.

The senior realtor can make suggestions for products and services that may help you financially, such as a reverse mortgage to use the equity in your home to finance your long-term care. An agent can also put you in contact with other companies to help with packing and unpacking, as well as estate sales. A senior realtor can point you in the right direction to a company specializing in outfitting your home with senior-friendly accessories like safety rails, wheelchair ramps, and walk-in tubs.

Where to Find Raleigh Area Senior Realtors

You can search the CSHP directory for agents in North Carolina, although the list is small due to the availability of the CSHP in only 23 states. The SRES database features a larger list of 32 senior realtors in the Raleigh area. Agents are featured on the site from firms like Fonville Morisey Realty, Northside Realty, Berkshire Hathaway HomeService, Smart Choice Realty, Keller Williams, DT and Company, Trusted Realty Solutions, and Allen Tate Raleigh-Falls. The site lists each agent’s contact information including address, phone number, and website link.

The SRES site also lists additional certifications each agent holds, such as GREEN for senior realtors certified in energy efficiency and sustainability housing, and CIPS for those agents certified in international real estate sales.
