Duke University Hospital takes the leading spot on the U.S. News & World Report list of nationally ranked Raleigh hospitals and is recognized for its geriatric services. The hospital is nationally ranked for numerous adult specialties that include diabetes and endocrinology, orthopedics, pulmonology, rheumatology, and urology. Duke is designated as “high performing” for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart failure, and hip and knee replacement.

The geriatric medicine division of Duke University Hospital was awarded high scores by U.S. News & World Report for the top-level care they provide to seniors. The staff includes a variety of specialists that are trained to assess and treat a range of health conditions that are common with seniors and older adults. Duke offers inpatient consultations as well as hospice and palliative care and support services.

The geriatric scorecard for UNC received high marks for the areas of patient services and nursing standards.
