Live Like a Local in Plano

Plano is home to many corporations like Frito-Lay, Pizza Hut, Rent-a-center, and Toyota Motors USA. Now, this is also your home. Time to discover your new favorites. We have put together a list of some restaurants to try. Ask around – there are a lot of options.

It’s all about food

In Plano, you will notice that there is a large selection and diverse selection. You can choose between barbecue, Tex-Mex, and just about any other style of restaurant.

Living in Texas, you know you must find a good barbecue joint. Kenny’s Smoke House embraces old-fashioned barbecue with sloppy ribs and succulent brisket. The sides are just as good as the main dish with choices like jalapeno cornbread and blue cheese potato salad.

In addition to barbecue, you need to find a good, authentic Tex-Mex restaurant. The Rusty Taco offers just that. You will find both beef and fish served at amazingly affordable prices. You can order a taco and a beer for less than five dollars. The barbecue brisket taco is also a favorite. For lighter fare, try one of the fish tacos that are either grilled or fried.

Jasper’s Plano offers the best brunch around Plano. Tucked in the Shops of Legacy, Jasper’s is a casual but gourmet barbecue restaurant. Try their signature chicken and waffles with a mimosa. You may find yourself a regular every weekend.

Plano has everything you need for the shopaholic in you. Downtown Plano offers galleries and unique shops to browse. You will also enjoy live music as you walk down the street to visit stores such as Georgia’s Farmers Market, Holman Pottery, Olive Mae (a children’s boutique), and Magaly Designs.

Lakeside Market is an open-air, upscale shopping experience. Top merchants include Weir's Furniture Village, Sur La Table, Jalin Jewelerstarbucks Coffee, Renee Rouleau Skin Care Spa, Pranaa Ayurveda Spa & Yoga, and The Boardroom Salon for Men.

Preston Park Village is more your typical shopping plaza with retail shops such as Ann Taylor, Talbots, Culwell and Son, The Game, Pottery Barn, and more. There are also several restaurants and a movie theater all within walking distance to help you make a full-day experience.
