Protestant Assisted Living in Pittsburgh

As they reach the age of retirement, many seniors begin thinking more seriously about the meaning of life and spirituality. While society often undervalues the aging population, many seniors want to know that the knowledge and wisdom that they’ve gained throughout their lives counts for something. It’s this kind of thinking that connects their view of spirituality to how they want to live the rest of their lives. This is also a reason for many seniors to consider choosing an assisted living facility that offers worship and religious services as amenities.

Asbury Heights

Asbury Heights offers three assisted living programs in the Pittsburgh area. They are Spring Lane, Hamilton Hall, and Asbury Villas. In addition to personal care and medical services, Asbury Heights offers two chapels on the 27-acre campus. Pastoral care is offered through Asbury’s United Methodist Chaplain. A Roman Catholic priest visits Asbury on a regular basis to conduct mass and communion is offered weekly. Asbury recognizes Jewish holy days and members of other faiths are welcome to invite their own clergy to conduct services in their preferred faith.

New Hope

Assisted living services such as personal care and medication management are provided in a French country-type setting on the grounds of New Hope. The facility provides an on-call house physician at all hours of the day and night. The program offers a wide variety of activities and lots of holiday celebrations. Church services are available on the premises. Residents may order breakfast from a menu. Two more meals are served family-style. Chefs prepare meals on-site and they are happy to accommodate special diets.

Weinberg Terrace

Weinberg Terrace was established as part of the Jewish Association on Aging, which has been providing services to Jewish seniors since 1906. The program has grown to include the full scope of elder care services. Jewish residents can keep kosher with three kosher meals served daily. Weinberg Terrace provides activities, trips, and other social events in and around the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. The facility is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.

Concordia of South Hills

Concordia of South Hills is considered one of the premier assisted living programs in Pittsburgh. Residents get help with bathing, dressing, and grooming as needed. Guests and residents can enjoy three chef-inspired meals every day in a restaurant atmosphere. Exercise and wellness programs keep seniors fit. The on-site creative arts studio is the perfect setting for active minds that want to explore creative energy. Staff tend to housekeeping and laundry so that residents can enjoy a full calendar of special events and outings. After a full day, seniors can relax in the library or lounge. Concordia begun as a Lutheran organization and now accepts seniors with all faith backgrounds.

Reformed Presbyterian Home

The Reformed Presbyterian Home started with humble beginnings as a home for the aged. Today, this senior living community offers McKee Place, an assisted living program with 24-hour care. Reformed Presbyterian Home offers a range of activities that includes exercise classes, movie nights, computer classes, games, music programs, and picnics. The program includes three meals per day, housekeeping, laundry services, transportation and an emergency call system. Religious services are held weekly in the on-site chapel.
