Catholic Health Care Services

Catholic Health Care Services is the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A number of in-home support options, senior clubs, senior centers, senior housing, and older adult care management choices are provided. Senior centers in the area include:

St. Anne’s Community Senior Center

Norris Square Community Senior Center

Star Harbor Community Senior Center

Health education, walking groups, exercise offerings, screenings, and immunizations are available through many of these centers. Lunch and breakfast may also be provided before or after certain activities. Seniors can contact each center to determine times and locations of upcoming events.

Philadelphia Corporation for Aging

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging offers numerous resources for seniors. Not all are Catholic-based, but many offer services to people of all religions. Adult day services are one option, providing a safe space for people to go during the day while their primary caregiver is away. Emergency resources and behavioral and mental health services are also offered.

St. John Neumann Place

Catholic assisted living facilities are located in Philadelphia. One possibility is St. John Neumann Place. This location is designed for ease of living. A 24-hour emergency call service is provided. There is also a social worker on site, working to assess each person and determine the best care options required. Social interactions are also plentiful at St. John. A large community room is available where people can meet.

Our Lady of Port Richmond

Our Lady of Port Richmond is comprised of three locations. One of them is Nativity B.V.M. It offers senior housing with a variety of care options. On-site staff members are available regularly to assist. Meals are often provided. There are also activities for all members to participate in if they desire, which is highly encouraged.

St. Francis Villa

The St. Francis Villa is a new project underway in the city of Philadelphia. The building of this senior housing location is an effort to provide more safe space for senior citizens of the community. Affordable housing will be offered, with 40 units available. $1.8 million was contributed to the project by PHA. Bishop John McIntyre blessed the ground at the building site before construction began.

Mercy LIFE Day Centers

The Mercy Health system includes a variety of hospitals and organizations throughout the U.S. Philadelphia is home to the Mercy LIFE Day Center, where a team of doctors, nurses, and other professional staff members assist with adult day care. Spiritual counseling is one of the most important services offered at the center. Medication management, personal care assistance, and nursing care is also available.
