Pet-Friendly Senior Living in Orlando

Orlando is well known for its sunny weather, amazing theme parks, and as a popular retirement destination. It is also a pet-loving city, full of welcoming restaurants and pet-inclusive activities that golden aged adults and their furry companions can enjoy. Visit one of the many dog-friendly parks, beaches, and shopping areas for a relaxing day with your pooch, or check out the many different festivals that happen year round--some are all about celebrating your four-legged pal!

Fun in the Florida Sun

One of Orlando's biggest attractions is the warm, balmy weather and its relative proximity to several beaches. Enjoying some relaxation on the sand can be pure pleasure, and bringing your best pet pal only sweetens the pot. Smyrna Dunes Park at New Smyrna Beach allows dogs on a leash and also offers nature trails, showers, bathrooms, and a picnic pavilion.

Wekiva Island, a river resort with a $1 entry fee, cabana rentals, a restaurant and bar, all pet-friendly. At a constant 72 degrees year-round, the Wekiva River makes for a pleasant swimming area for both you and your pet. If you're feeling especially adventurous, you can rent a standup paddleboard and take your pup with you on a river adventure.

Popular and Pet-Friendly

If you’re looking for shopping and leisure activities to do with your pet, there are all kinds of places to visit. World of Beer offers pet-friendly tours and tastings, as well as a pub-style restaurant you can knock one back at, while your canine keeps you company. Want to find a treat for your favorite furry pal? Take a walk over to Bark Avenue Bakery, a charming shop specially designed with dogs in mind! They sell delicious homemade treats, toys, beds, and even clothing for your pup.

Lake Eola Park is another hot destination for pet-owners. Home to one of the best Farmers’ Markets in Central Florida, a public amphitheater, and lots of open green to play on, this park has all kinds of activities to enjoy. Lake Eola Park is also a central location of Orlando, placed square in the middle of tons of other amusements and shopping opportunities.

Celebrating Man’s Best Friend

Orlando is a city that is fond of festivals, and some are dedicated to none other than man's best friend. Paws in the Park is both a celebration of our favorite animal companions as well as a fundraising walk to help some 8,000 homeless pets receive the care they need until they find their forever homes. Funded by Disney and hosted by the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, this event also features shows, vendors, and fun at Lake Eola Park.

The Puppy Love Dog Festival is another celebration devoted to our canine companions. With over a thousand human attendees, this is a popular event where donations are encouraged to help Orlando’s many pet rescue associations. Vendors of both dog products and human foods are in abundance, as are adoption agencies who encourage attendees to meet their lovable canines and consider bringing a new friend home. With agility shows, live music, demonstrations, and costume contests, this event is a joy for any dog owner.
