Catholic Health Care in Orlando

Orlando offers a variety of health services, including those that follow the Catholic teachings. Support, spiritual guidance, and professional care are all provided by Catholic health care facilities. A number of these types of locations are found in the Orlando area.

Catholic Charities of Central Florida

Known as the Diocese of Orlando, Catholic Charities of Central Florida works to provide helpful resources to elderly citizens of the city. A number of free and low cost health care services are offered. It starts with free clinics in the area working to provide simple health care needs. This includes:

• St. Thomas Aquinas Free Medical Center

• Lazarus Free Medical Clinic

• St. Luke's Free Medical and Dental Clinic

• Pathways to Care

While the first three locations offer typical care options, Pathways to Care is a respite-center with beds provided to homeless men and women in Central Florida. This provides a safe location to heal properly from a serious illness or injury.

Brookdale Conway

Brookdale Conway is a senior living solution in Orlando. Catholics are welcome at the facility, with other religious seniors also welcome to the home. There are various levels of care offered, depending on how much independence one still maintains.

Typical assisted living services include providing medication management, offering meals, and helping with personal care. A nurse is available throughout the day to assist. The remainder of the day can be spent how one likes, in their own room, in the community room, or completing one of the offered activities.

Bishop Grady Villas is not only designed for the elderly, but for anyone with a disability who needs regular care. Spiritual growth is encouraged at the villa. Christ-centered vocational activities, employment services, and community offerings are included.

St. James Cathedral

A Ministry to the Sick and Homebound program is available at the St. James Cathedral. Weekly visits are typically performed, with those involved heading to nursing homes, care centers, and private residences in an effort to provide ministry to those who request it. This is often a helpful service to those walking the faith, as they need the spiritual support it provides. Some provide monthly or twice a month services. Holy Communion is even brought to residents in the program.

Westminster Communities of Florida

Westminster Communities of Florida provides various living residents to seniors. Independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, home care, pharmacy, and rehabilitation are all included. Skilled nursing refers to providing a nurse for daily care, whether for a long term period, or a short while. These nurses administer IVs, perform wound care, take vitals, and offer rehabilitation therapy.

Home care allows residents to remain in their own home, while still receiving the care services they need. Typical procedures take up to roughly two hours, providing plenty of time for residents to continue on and enjoy their day any way they see fit. Up to 24 hours of care can be provided in the home, with live-in nurse options available.
