With a variety of arts and entertainment options, there is something for everyone. Support groups and events are also available for LGBT members to receive the guidance and friendships they need.

Neighborhoods of Oakland

Redwood Heights and the Skyline are two of the most common areas for gays to live. Upper Diamond and Glenview are also amongst the list. Bushrod, Rockridge, and West Berkeley are also included. With so many areas to choose from, there is plenty of gay living space for everyone.

Sunrise at Oakland Hills is a senior living community on Skyline Boulevard. The large community is filled with amenities and beneficial features, including a large common area, a pet-friendly atmosphere, and a beautiful outdoor landscape. Events Around Town

Several bars and clubs offer a gay atmosphere in Oakland. Club 21 is a gay, Latin nightclub. Go-go dancers fill the stage to offer entertainment. The White Horse Bar is a landmark gay and lesbian bar in Oakland. It is open from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m, giving people plenty of opportunities to come in and enjoy a drink. This is a prime place to meet.

The Queer Tango Festivalito is scheduled for March. It includes four days of dancing, music, and fun with others. A welcome/practice night is first, with three nights of open dance and surprise performances following it. Coffee and tea time is usually provided earlier in the day before the dancing sessions.

Oakland Pride is the largest gay event in the city. It is typically held in December and includes a pride parade. People can go and participate, or they can volunteer to help out during the event. All Bay area residents are encouraged to attend to show their support.

In Need of Support

Multiple support groups and organizations are available in the Oakland area. Genders and Sexual Alliance Network is one option. This gay and lesbian organization is located downtown, providing networking opportunities and support.

The Pacific Center for Human Growth is located just 15 minutes in Berkeley. A number of support group and offerings are available to help people cope with their daily lives. A transgender peer support group, queers with chronic pain group, and even alcoholics anonymous are offered. Additional counseling and psychotherapy options can be discussed for all individuals that require the one-on-one attention.
