Live Like a Local in Nashville

Many Nashvillians would love the chance to experience the city afresh for the first time. So, if you are new to Nashville, congratulations! Once you are done visiting the big tourist attractions, like the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, it is time to check out the places less traveled. Invite your friends as you check out these Nashville favorites.

Eating in Nashville

Sometimes a good burger is just what the doctor ordered. If this is the prescription for you, head to The Pharmacy in East Nashville. They do it right by offering old-fashioned house-made floats and sodas, a wide variety of wursts, a great outdoor atmosphere, and a rotating assortment of beers on tap.

Head downtown to Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant for the best in traditional American and Southern foods. Some of their specialties include pulled pork; Piggy Mac, which consists of macaroni and Gouda cheese with Cherry wood smoked pulled pork; and redneck burritos packed full of pulled pork, baked beans, and BBQ sauce.

No list of the best dining establishments in Nashville is complete without mentioning Hattie B’s Chicken. They specialize in one of the city’s signature dishes: hot chicken. They have a range of heat options from “mild” to “shut the cluck up.” They have locations in Midtown and West Nashville, and the Bishop Family, who owns and operates Hattie B’s, also runs Bishop’s Meat and Three, which you should also check out.

Shop Like a Nashvillian

The biggest and best shopping mall in Nashville is Opry Mills. Since 2000, it has served as Tennessee’s largest value retail and outlet destination. You can get a good deal checking out the more than 200 stores in this beautiful indoor mall. Some of the top shops include Under Armour Factory House, kate spade new York OUTLET, Ralph Lauren Factory Store, and many more. Plus, there is even a Dave & Buster’s and Regal Cinema 20 & IMAX inside.

The Mall at Green Hills is a shopping mecca. This is the place you go when you want the best but want to avoid the crowds. For instance, you can expect to find Apple, Tory Burch, Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Restoration Hardware, J. Crew, and more here. If you truly want to impress your friends and have a fun afternoon of shopping, head over to Antique Archaeology. More of an attraction than a store, the antiques are truly great pieces of Americana.

“Get Your Hairs Did”

Nashville is known for its style, and you do not get that reputation without an army of top-notch stylists. In Midtown, there is no place better than Lucy Pop Salon. You can get elite-level extensions, scalp treatments, coloring, and more in a fun, trendy atmosphere.

In Green Hills, Salon Ya Ya gives you affordable luxury. Their stylists have friendly demeanors and extensive training to make you look your best.

When it comes to local favorites in Nashville, this list is just the beginning. When you run with these ideas, you are sure to find some hidden gems of your own.
