Best of Milwaukee Senior Living 2016

Before you sign the lease for a new home at an assisted living facility or retirement community, research the award-winning providers in Milwaukee. Senior Advisor’s 2016 Best of Senior Living award recognizes providers that consistently maintain high ratings from residents, residents’ families, and visitors. The following is a list of a few of the 2016 winners in Milwaukee.

Assisted Living

When you are mostly independent, but need a little help with activities for daily living (ADLs), such as personal care or housecleaning, an assisted living community can be the perfect place.

Eastcastle Place provides residents with a personalized assistance plan as well as transportation, housekeeping, meal preparation, medication management, and recreational activities. The rooms are available as a studio apartment, one bedroom apartment, or two bedroom apartment.

One family member of a resident was impressed with the staff, “From the first phone call to Rosemary at Eastcastle until my mother moved in our experiences have been beyond our expectations. On our first tour we were both impressed by how clean everything was and how friendly and welcoming everyone was toward us. Since my mother moved in she has been so busy with all of the activities that she hasn't needed to venture out much at all. She and her cat absolutely love their apartment. The head nurse MaryLou was very informative when she did her initial evaluation of my mother at my home. She is highly educated on senior medical needs and put both of us at ease with my mothers' concerns on her medical issues. Both Rosemary and Marylou stopped by my mom's apartment within hours of her move-in and welcomed her.”

Alzheimer’s Care

It’s important to choose a facility that can provide the secure environment and comforting atmosphere as well as intensive care that residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia require.

Eastcastle Place (see Assisted Living, above) also provides memory care for those residents suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. You can expect the professional staff of physicians and nurses to provide the needed medical care you or loved one require. Each resident in the memory care program receives a personalized plan of care. The center also has physical, occupational, and speech therapy available.

One reviewer commented about her mother, “So far so good - Love the place. Mom was very scared initially. Since her husband of 72 years passed in April she is lost without him. She has Alzheimer’s, but appears to be settling in. For the price I would strongly recommend Eastcastle. Everyone has been courteous and helpful.”

Independent Living

Retirement communities offer independent living for active seniors wanting the leisure without the chores of landscaping and home maintenance.

Clare Heights offers one bedroom and two bedroom apartments within minutes to bus lines, shops, restaurants, and parks. The facility manages the grounds, so you can concentrate on more important things. The center has planned activities on-site and off, beauty and barber services, and allows pets.

One resident wrote, “I came to Clare Heights wondering if I could ever live alone. Wow. I chose a 2 bedroom apartment with a gorgeous Huge Balcony. Peace, comfort, and love from all angles. I'd never trade living at Clare Heights for a huge mansion. I'm 81 1/2 and I intend to see 100 here.”
