Finding Social Security Offices in Los Angeles

There are several Social Security offices in Los Angeles:

L.A.’s Social Security Services for Senior Citizens

If you need to apply for retirement, replace a lost card, or update information, you can do this at your nearest office. To avoid potential long waiting times at the field office, you can access the SSA’s automated line 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-772-1213. This main number will allow you to do several tasks from the comfort of your home:

Replace a lost or damaged Social Security or Medicare card

Request a benefit verification letter or replacement tax summary

Request a form SA-1020 to apply for the Medicare Part D Program for prescription medication costs

Check claim status

Apply for a name change on the Social Security card

The help line can also provide you with recorded information on direct deposit, SSI, taxes, cost-of-living adjustments, payment delivery dates, non-receipt of the Social Security benefit, and fraud.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 64, receive SSI or SSDI, and are planning for retirement, you may be eligible for the Ticket to Work Program in California. This program will enable you to enter the workforce while not losing any of your benefits, including Medicare or Medicaid. The program can provide you with education, job training, transportation to work, adaptive equipment, resumes, and job searches.
