Medicare is a federal health plan for seniors 65 and older, some younger people with disabilities, and people that have kidney failure that requires dialysis or a transplant. There are four different parts to Medicare that offer different coverage and services.
Part A is for hospital visits and stays. It can also take care of things like hospice care, care from a skilled nursing facility, and in some cases home health care.
Part B is for medical coverage and procedures. It can take care of things like outpatient services, doctor’s visits, medical supplies, and preventative services.
Part C is what is called Medicare Advantage Plan. It partners with a private company to cover Part A and B coverage and offers it’s own prescription coverage. You can choose which services you need under this and that includes private fee-for-service plans, HMO’s and PPO’s.
Part D is an additional prescription coverage plan for original Medicare plans and not Part C recipients.
