cannot accommodate our mom without the family hiring a 24/7 aide to live in her apartment, taking away half of her space. Also, if the aide doesn't want the food served in the dining room, we would have to food shop for her. Therefore, after much back and forth, it was decided that mom remain in Arbors.
My husband gave notice that he would have his mother out by Sat., Aug. 22nd. The Marketing Director, not wanting to lose his "private pay" suggested that he take an extension of his notice, that he could pay each day he went over the Aug. 22nd date. We decided we were not going to pay The Haven and Arbors, which is the case right now. My husband also does not want to hire an aide and end up paying the same amount that Arbors would get.
Unfortunately, there are employees with so-called titles after their names that really do not belong working with residents and their families. The "regular" employees, for the most part, are absolutely competent and caring.
We could mention a handful of these "titled" employees but there is one that has been a nightmare for this family this entire week. The employee is [removed], "Administrator in Training." I believe the company has overlooked some areas of training. This person is not compassionate nor is she understanding; she is mean and stone-faced We have heard families refer to her as the dragon-lady.
She has family members and employees alike shaking in their boots and looking over their left and right shoulders to see if she is around. Way to go, [removed]!!!!! We needed some assistance with a few things and she raised her eyebrows at us and apparently "warned" her employees not to be in contact with the family. We had offered some furniture we thought could be used in The Haven but we believe that was not to [removed] liking; therefore, we offered the furniture to Arbors and they were more than happy to accept it.
There are many incidents that have occurred in The Haven but this one is one that is well worth noting. Compassionate, understanding, caring and smiling faces are the qualities that the employees at The Haven should possess. They are dealing with a variety of sensitive situations involving residents and their families. For that matter, the working environment would be pleasant without these nasty and mean so-called "titled" employees!
"[Removed]" went into mom's apt. on Thurs, the 20th - apparently for her walk-through and left the blinds pulled up to the top of the windows. There were still personal items in that apartment. Also, her walk-through should NOT have been done until the last paid day for that apartment.
Different people have different experiences. Unfortunately, some of our experiences have not been pleasant for a private pay family -- it would not be pleasant for any family, private pay or not.
My grandmother loves it!
Grandma is very happy here. The grounds are very clean, no garbage. The people are nice and friendly. It has a clubhouse, and is conveniently located. It is a bit expensive, there is an extra charge for everything. Grandma says it feels safe, and her apartment is a nice size.
