Knoxville Veterans Support Groups

Thousands of veterans live in the Knoxville area and require assistance in various aspects of their lives. Many veterans are younger men and women who have no idea where to begin once they return home from their duties. Education and employment are the main focus for these individuals. Those who fought wars years ago are now in need of healthcare. These services are offered by various organizations in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.

Knoxville Local Veteran Resources

The Knoxville Vet Center is located on East Magnolia Avenue. The hours of operation vary from day to day, with the longest hours on Tuesday. It is open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Other days it closes by either 4:30 or 5:30. It is also open on the third Saturday of each month. For an alternative time that better fits your schedule, you can contact the center to make an appointment. It can be reached at 1-877-WAR-VETS.

Knox County Veterans Services has a mission to assist all veterans and their dependents. Much of the assistance stems from filling out applications and forms. Disability compensation, enrolling in health benefits, vocational rehabilitation, burial benefits, insurance programs, and more all require lengthy forms and applications. Many vets find these difficult to understand and tough to fill out without help. Professionals at the services office work to describe these forms in better detail and ensure those filling them out are doing so correctly. The building is located on North Central Street.

The Mountain Home VA Medical Center is located in Knoxville on Ray Mears Boulevard. This outpatient clinic is designed to provide healthcare to vets in the area. Laboratory work, radiology, mental health, optometry, women’s care, diabetic consultation, primary care, and prosthetics are all offered at this center. The medical professionals working at the center can make referrals to other locations when additional services are needed.
