Best of Knoxville Senior Living 2016

We want to provide the best environment we can for a family member who is aging and no longer able to handle all of his or her own daily care. This means finding them a home or facility where a professional will handle their care. Senior Advisor offers guidance on these facilities, providing helpful reviews from others who have lived there, or who have family members living there. The Best of 2016 award winners from Knoxville and surrounding areas are chosen based on specific criteria that you can see for yourself to help make your decision.

Assisted Care

Your loved one may be able to care for themselves in many ways, yet unable to handle certain tasks. An assisted care facility will provide the space they need to live alone, yet have a nursing staff available daily to provide assistance. Manorhouse Assisted Living is a valid choice in Knoxville. There is a semi-private room that can be shared with a roommate, a small studio, and a one-bedroom apartment option. One reviewer stated, “they’ve always got good activities and entertainment.” Another indicated that the place is “clean and homey.”

Not far off in Loudon, Lakewood Place was rated the best in assisted living. It has earned more than 10 reviews indicating a great place and great experience. “The staff is friendly and courteous,” according to one reviewer. The facility offers a wide range of services for residents to enjoy, including onsite activities, offsite activities, beauty and barber services, an outdoor common area, and help with occupational, speech, and physical therapy.

Alzheimer’s Care

Many senior communities specialize in Alzheimer’s care. All staff is trained to work dementia patients to help them stay socially engaged and as active as possible. These facilities are also more secure to prevent residents from wandering.

Atria Weston Place offers an array of amenities for all residents to enjoy. There is an ice cream parlor on site to provide a tasty treat, along with a library, community garden, and multiple common areas. The facility is located near the West Town Mall and is also within the vicinity of several medical facilities that make medical care fast to get to when needed. One family member of a resident discussed how the “staff is very thoughtful and attentive to the residents.”

In-Home Care

Many seniors do not need to stay in a facility long-term. Some simply require in-home assistance that helps them manage difficult daily tasks, like laundry, making meals, or getting groceries. One of the best options in the Knoxville area is Stay at Home. They were rated 5 stars for excellence. One reviewer states that they were introduced to a wonderful caregiver who “has been with [her] six months and hope forever.”

The Knoxville area is full of top-rated facilities for senior care. The nearby town of Loudon is home to one of the best assisted living facilities in the vicinity. To see a full list of all award winners in recent years, click here.
