1. Mine Tour, Largest Display of Fluorescent Rocks
This is New Jersey's last underground mining operation, in the state's northwest corner, and was closed in 1986. The location was bought by enthusiasts Dick and Bob Hauck. They reopened as the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. Seniors receive a discount every day.
2. Space Farms Zoo and Museum
Space Farms is a popular New Jersey destination, drawing an odd mix of petting zoo fans and enthusiasts who love unusual experiences, such as shelf after shelf of preserved animals in jars: snakes, possums, rats, and deer.
3. Crash Site of the Hindenburg
The site where the Hindenburg crashed. Seniors enjoy a discount to enter the hangar where the airship was kept and see relics of the heyday of airship travel – the museum’s curator will gladly regale visitors with stories about the crash.
4. The Catacombs of St. Joseph
The catacombs of St. Joseph are tiny and seem more like an oddly finished basement than a classic Roman city of the dead. Charles Frederick Harms passed away in 1918. He had made millions in the shipping industry and his 20-foot-tall pyramid tomb in the Flower Hill Cemetery is supposedly the only one of its kind in the state of New Jersey. It's free to visit.
6. The Guinness Collection of Automata
One of the world's most amazing groupings of mechanical musical instruments and robotic figures: The Murtogh D. Guinness Collection. It’s housed in a suburban New Jersey museum and offers discounts for seniors.
7. Medieval Times Dinner Theatre

The Thomas Edison Memorial Tower and Menlo Park Museum were built in 1938, in the Menlo Park section of the town of Edison. It’s the site of Edison's famous triumphs; recorded sound and the light bulb.
9. Lucy the Elephant
Built in 1881 by James Lafferty, and standing six stories tall, it weighs 90 tons and is covered with 12,000 square feet of tin. Lucy the Elephant is located along the beach in Josephine Harron Park (named for our co-founder) in Margate, New Jersey. She is listed on the National Park Registry of Historical Landmarks. and is both free and open at all times.
10. Muffler Man – Pirate
Just off the boardwalk at Ocean City, behind Congo Falls and next to a Spanish galleon, stands a Muffler Man pirate. He is a hazard on a pirate-themed miniature golf course. The golf course offers senior discounts every day.
