Finding the perfect home for retirement doesn’t have to be difficult. Jacksonville offers plenty of choices from assisted living communities to retirement villages. Before you choose a provider in the area, consider researching and comparing facilities that have won Senior Advisor’s 2016 Best of Senior Living award. These award-winning providers are ranked and reviewed consistently by residents and their families.
Assisted living communities provide you with an extra helping hand when you need it, such as assistance with personal care, transportation, housecleaning, and laundry. These facilities are referred to as the bridge between independent living and skilled nursing care.
Sunrise of Jacksonville is a favorite with residents’ families and features 19 reviews. The rooms are decorated to give a cozy feel with indoor and outdoor common areas, brightly decorated dining areas, and attractive seating arrangements. The facility also provides its residents with beauty and barber services, complimentary transportation, and devotional services.
One reviewer responded as saying, “My mother has been in Sunrise of Jacksonville for 2 months now. While it is still the adjustment period for her, we are so pleased with the Sunrise facility as a whole. The staff is exceedingly friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful. The facility is very clean, well decorated, easily accessible and cheerful.”
Cypress Village provides residents with Continuing Care Rehabilitation and Healthcare Centers for when you need professional staff to help you with short-term or long-term health care needs. The facility also offers programs with activities to keep you engaged and active, such as themed celebrations, special events, and group activities.
Most of the 21 reviews listed on the site are from residents that moved to Cypress Village more than one year ago. One reviewer commented on the freedom she found at the center, “My husband and I moved into a Cypress Village apartment, when I was sixty-three years old. My classmates and cousins kept saying I’m too young. I told them that I wanted the turnkey, carefree and worry free lifestyle of a CCRC. I also wanted to be young enough to participate in all the activities, trips and health programs proved by the extremely capable and friendly staff.”
Some centers provide full-time care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other forms of memory impairment. These facilities offer extra layers of security to keep residents from wandering away and getting lost or hurt.
Sunrise of Jacksonville (see Assisted Living, above) also provides assistance and 24 hour monitoring for residents with memory disorders. The facility is a smaller size, so the residents receive more attention and personalized care.
One reviewer wrote that the center gives her peace of mind, “My husband was at Sunrise for 2 respite visits, first in Assisted Living, then Renaissance (Memory Care) and is now a full-time resident of Memory Care. I am relieved that he is well cared for though heartbroken that he can no longer be home safely. I believe he has adjusted very well and the care team keeps him occupied and busy which makes his days more stimulating…it gives me peace of mind.”
