Social Security for Irvine Seniors

Social Security is critical to your income after leaving the daily grind of the workforce. This program is here to help you live, so don’t make sure you make the program work for you. You can find nearby Social Security offices to assist you with your benefits. The office staff is there for you and to answer any questions. You can also contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) by calling one of the toll-free numbers or visiting their website.

Local Social Security Offices

There is no Social Security office in Irvine, but there is one in Santa Ana.  The office’s address is 1851 East First Street, which is on the fifth floor of the Xerox Building on the corner of E. First Street and Cabrillo Park Drive. The phone number is 1.800.772.1213. The TTY line is 1.800.325.0778.  The office is open Monday - Friday, with hours of 9-4 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, the hours are 9-12.

There are also offices in Mission Viejo, Anaheim, Fountain Valley, and Garden Grove. To find additional locations, enter a zip code into the SSA’s online office locator.

Senior Programs

The Social Security office can assist you with various federal programs including Social Security, Medicare, retirement, and disability.  You can go to the office for assistance or questions. You can schedule an appointment to speak with a representative to lessen your wait time.

If you receive Social Security disability benefits and are under the age of 65, you qualify for SSA’s free “Ticket to Work” program, which teaches you new work-related skills. During this training, you will still receive your disability pay.  Area agencies manage this program locally. To learn more about this program, call the Helpline at 1.866.968.7842.

If you want to hear more about Social Security benefits, you can have a speaker present to your club, senior community, or another group. Fill out the online form and request 30 days before your event.  You can also ask for a translator to explain benefits in any language.
