Irvine Senior Centers

Looking for something to do after you’ve retired? Senior centers in Irvine offer countless activities and options to keep you entertained. If you want to spend your time doing something simple, like playing games during the week or exercising, these centers provide the supplies and equipment to do so. If your interests prove more dramatic, expand your talents with some dance classes or theater performances. There is even a dating scene if you want to get back into the game.

Play Weekday Games

Many seniors look for others to play games. Whether you just want to enjoy a round of chess or would prefer ping pong, your local senior center has a variety of options available. The Irvine Lakeview Senior Center provides a multi-use facility with a fully equipped game room. Bingo, bridge, American Mah Jongg, Bunco, Canasta and more get played there.

Continue Learning

Various lectures and seminars get offered at the facility as well. Classes on wound care, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Diabetes, Medicare basics, Healthy Brain Basics and more allow you to learn valuable information related to aging. Computer classes may be available as well at various times to help you learn the basics.

The Trabuco Center provides a fitness area with a wide range of workout options. Located at 5701 Trabuco Road, this Irvine facility remains open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.  Use it when you need to walk on the treadmill, get a leg workout on the elliptical, or use the free weights.

The Rancho Senior Center, located at 3 Ethel Coplen Way, has fitness choices as well. Use the leg press, free weights, recumbent bikes, hi-low pulley, and stability balls to improve your strength and stamina.

Expand Your Talents

Dance, music, and movie programs, as well as arts and crafts, allow you to expand your talents. The Lakeview Senior Center offers dance lessons for ballet and jazz. Hawaiian Hula is another offering, along with Harmonica Ensemble, Intro to Broadway Dance, Line Dancing for Active Adults, Social Tap Dance, and others.

Make New Friends

If you are over 60 and looking for a way to make new friends, join a meetup group or club. An OC Senior Club, Active Orange County Couples, BoBie Cycling Club, Flag Football Group, Live Music Meetup, and much more exist in the area. Join a club that interests you and begin spending your time doing things you enjoy with other people who also enjoy them.

See the World

Not all Irvine seniors want to stay in the area every day. Many hope to get out and explore so they can see different sights and experience new things. Irvine Senior Travelers offers a variety of day trips and state excursions to give travelers the opportunities they need to get out and about. The Lakeview Senior Center is home to the Travel Club Office where you can go to speak to someone about the upcoming trips. A representative is available to talk with you Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm. You can also call at 949-724-6900.
