Glendale Support Groups For Caregivers

If you are a family caregiver you know, it’s an important and sometimes grueling job. You have to make sure your loved one has all their needs met, and that can often come at the cost of neglecting your own needs. It’s crucial that you care for yourself because that will make you a better caregiver in the long run. Support groups are a fantastic way to connect with other caregivers to build a network of support, and fortunately, Glendale has a variety of support groups and supportive services you can use.

HealthSouth Valley Of The Sun Rehabilitation Hospital

HealthSouth is a hospital that acts as the in-between stop for people who no longer need the full care of the hospital but aren’t entirely ready to return home. Many seniors stay here after they have had surgery or dealt with things like a heart attack or stroke. While they take care of patients, they also have services for their caregivers.

There are a few different support groups that meet at least once sometimes twice a month at the hospital. The groups are set up for various diseases or conditions so you can choose based on your needs. There is a group for Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and brain injuries. You can visit the hospital website to get the time and place for all of these groups, and there is a phone number for each meeting you can call to get additional information.

Southwest Network

Southwest Network works mainly with people who are recovering or dealing with a mental illness, which includes patients, their families, and caregivers. On their site, they have a few different online resources you can use to find community programs and services that might help your loved one.

They also have a list of various support groups for caregivers throughout Maricopa County. These aren’t just support groups for caregivers of people with mental illness but things like cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. You can also find family support groups where you can go with your entire family to find help. The location and phone number for each support group is on their calendar, and you can call for more information.

Region One

Region One serves as Maricopa County’s area agency on aging. They can help seniors find programs and services to make aging easier, and one of these programs is the Family Caregiver Support Program. This program will connect caregivers with various community information, assistance, and resources to make their job easier.

There are also plenty of services just for caregivers. This includes a caregiver resource zone at the Glendale library that will help you find local services. Support groups are also offered and cover Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s and everything in between. You can call the 24-hour helpline at (602) 264-4357 for more information.

Arizona Caregiver Coalition

If you need to find support groups in your area, the Arizona Caregiver Coalition is a good place to start. They have an alphabetical list of all support groups in the state so you can easily find groups in your area. If you can’t make it to a meeting, they also have links to online support groups and forums that can help you connect with other caregivers right from your computer. They also have a caregiver resource line that you can call whenever you want at (888) 737-7494.
