A little over 74,000 seniors call El Paso home and with good reason. Right along the banks of the Rio Grande, El Paso offers beautiful landscapes, history, and it has been ranked as one of the safest largest cities in the US for four consecutive years. Seniors also have access to plenty of programs and services which enhance their daily lives and make El Paso the perfect place to call home. These are just a few of the services you can find in El Paso.

Bienvivir is a comprehensive senior health community program. You can find access to a day health care center that provides Alzheimer’s care, various types of therapy, meals, social work services, and transportation. Bienvivir also has home delivered meals, in-home care, and a medical equipment program.

Caring Senior Service can help you get around town for your appointments or errands as well as assist you with meal preparation or light housekeeping. They can even keep you company for a few hours if you’re going to be alone for a while.

Catholic Charities of El Paso provides medical services for the community. They have primary health care services offered Monday through Friday, and they have a Spanish speaker on staff if needed.

Centro De Salud Familiar La Fe is a comprehensive health and humanitarian organization that has a few clinics throughout the area. Housebound seniors can join the Senior Companionship Program and find friendship and support with other seniors. Adults 55 and over are trained to detect the signs of depression, Alzheimer’s, or other senior issues while providing care and support.

The city of El Paso operates 11 different senior centers. At each of these centers, you can find groups, clubs, and activities. There are dance classes as well as cooking and art courses, card games, and daily social event.

The Jewish Federation of Greater El Paso runs the Shalom Shuttle which helps seniors to get to various services and activities offered by Jewish groups in the area. You need to call the service a few days in advance so you can get vouchers to ride the shuttle.

Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging gives seniors information and assistance with any service they might need all with a simple phone call. Seniors can also use their benefits counseling to learn more about Medicare and Social Security and make sure they are using the most of their benefits. The AAA also has care management so you can coordinate all the types of care you need.

Senior Nutrition helps El Paso seniors 60 and older gain access to a fresh and healthy lunch. 20 different sites around El Paso serve these meals, and there is a delivery service for seniors that can’t leave their homes.

The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) has numerous resources, programs, and information for senior Texans. You can learn more about long-term care and programs like Medicare.

Texas Health and Human Services also provides help for seniors. There are long-term care options and information as well as links to different Area Agencies on Aging. They also have resources for caregivers.
