Bright Horizon is a Family Care Home dedicated to promoting health and the quality of life for residents. This care home in North Carolina serves only six residents at a time. This allows them to truly focus on the individual needs of seniors. They provide care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease in a suburban home setting with a backyard and patio. This senior community will provide long-term care, including respite care. Considering the setting and the high-quality personalized care, reviewers have voted Bright Horizon among the Best of Senior Living in North Carolina in 2017.

One reviewer wrote, “The care is very personal, the care home is fantastic, and it's a real home. They show genuine interest in every patient.” Someone else wrote, “They are very concerned with the individual needs of each patient and care for them very well.”

Cambridge Village offers memory care for senior residents with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Residents live on a gorgeous campus, featuring a secure area for safe time outdoors and a daily routine that keeps residents active and engaged.

Cambridge Village has won the Best of Senior Living Award in 2017. Many who reviewed the community liked the décor, the hallways that were designed to help seniors orient themselves easily, the way the community is maintained, high-quality of care, and the fun activities such as entertainment and classes.

Sunrise of Cary is a senior community that accommodates Alzheimer’s patients. Sunrise of Cary has a secure courtyard with rest areas, paths, and places where residents can even garden. The community activity calendar offers options such as weekly pet therapy visits, fitness classes, holiday celebrations for residents and worship services.

Atria Southpoint Walk features a memory care wing for seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Residents and their families all agree that this is a community that cares for people dealing with memory disease.

Senior Independent Living Award Winners

The best class of independent living communities are resort style communities where you socialize with other residents and the staff.

For healthy retirees who want fun rather than worrying about their old homes, independent living communities are the place to be.

Bartlett Reserve Senior Community in Durham, as mentioned above, has won the Best of Senior Living Award for 2017 and has garnered some great reviews. This community offers large 1- and 2-bedroom apartments with emergency response systems installed and parking. Residents have access to Bartlett Reserve Senior Community in Durham’s amenities including a spa, outdoor area, day trips, classes, and even a games room. Other features include chef-prepared food, holiday celebrations, housecleaning service, and a private room for guests.

What was important to many reviewers was the sense of community. One reviewer, a long-term resident, wrote, “the people working as staff are attentive, sociable and caring.” Another senior says that when he moved in after his wife passed away, “I immediately felt secure and accepted.”

Cambridge Village (mentioned above in Alzheimer’s Care/assisted living) has independent living options that include one and two-bedroom apartments and communal areas for socializing, critical in-unit emergency call buttons, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The community has spacious and near natural areas with walking paths. There is an on-site chapel, and ministerial services for seniors and comfortable dining areas for meals served restaurant-style.

Award Winning Group Homes for Seniors

Group homes are just what it sounds like; regular homes that have been changed to provide a community for seniors who want to live in a home-like setting. They are frequently family-owned and staffed by carers that enjoy getting to know each senior as good as possible.

Bright Horizon is a small, private senior care home that offers heartfelt care for senior adults with Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of neurological disorders, and disabling conditions. This home has won the Best of Senior Living Award in 2017 and will likely win again in 2018, considering the very positive reviews from residents and the people who love them.

More than a few reviewers wrote about the quality of the food cooked by the staff. A reviewer, whose husband resided at the home for over a year, said, “I was so very pleased with the care he received the whole time he’s lived there.”
