Things to Do in Denver

On the edge of the High Plains where the Rocky Mountains begin lies Denver. The Mile-High City is celebrated for its diverse culture and broad range of entertaining activities both outdoors and in. There are plenty of things to do whether you are active or sedentary, outgoing or restrained. Let’s look at some of the great opportunities Denver offers.

Experience the Arts

There are numerous art attractions throughout the city. Two popular art districts are the River North Art District and the Art District on Santa Fe. Denver is not necessarily known for its contributions to music, but it does have very active folk, pop, classical, jam, and jazz music scenes that have nurtured musicians to regional, national, and international acclaim.

View World-Class Museums

It is easy to spend days exploring the many nationally recognized museums in Denver. The Denver Art Museum is a striking building designed by Daniel Libeskind. It is one of the largest of its kind between Chicago and the West Coast. The museum is known for its American Indian art and has over 68,000 diverse works from around the world. Other popular museums include the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, History Colorado Center, and the Byers-Evans House Museum.

It’s All about the Open Spaces

Denver is home to more than 200 parks and 29 recreation centers. City Park is the largest park in the city at 314 acres. It contains Duck and Feral Lakes, a boathouse, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Denver Zoo. The zoo has more than 600 species and over 4,000 animals. The major exhibits are Primate Panorama, Tropical Discovery, Predator Ridge, Bear Mountain, Toyota Elephant Passage, and North Shores.

Enjoy a Day at the Ballpark

Sports are a big part of life in Denver. In fact, the Denver metro area is the smallest metropolitan area to have teams in all four of the major professional sports. The most successful of these teams is the National Football League’s Denver Broncos, who have won three Super Bowls. Their games at Mile High Stadium regularly attract more than 75,000 fans. Both the National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets and National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche play at the Pepsi Center.

Get Festive at Yearly Celebrations

The town comes together multiple times each year to celebrate various cultural events. The Great American Beer Festival takes place in the early fall and attracts visitors from across the globe. The original event took place in 1982 and featured 22 breweries. The most recent event had more than 700. If drinking beer is not your thing, you might prefer the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Relax with a Visit to the Spa

Not all of us seek active lifestyles. Instead, we prefer to enjoy pampering experiences. If this sounds like you, Denver has you covered. 5280 Nails & Spa is the ideal place to go for a mani-pedi. On the other hand, if you are looking for a hairstylist or want a scalp massage, consider heading to Namaste. Whatever your needs may be, Denver will meet them.
