Finding a Home in Dayton

Seniors looking to find a home in Dayton can contact the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center. The center’s goal is to provide fair housing opportunities for everyone. Regular forums and discussions are held in order to make progress.

Spring Hills Singing Woods allows residents to experience both onsite and offsite activities. There is even complimentary transportation that will take people to locations around town. Residents can shop, see a movie, or simply explore the area often. Another possibility is Hearth & Home at Vandalia. An indoor common area is provided where residents can meet, and regular activities are provided. Pets are even allowed at this location.

Finding Friends in Dayton

Finding friends with similar interests may seem scary, but it can be done easily if people know where to start. The Dayton LGBT Center offers community events where people with similar interests can meet and spark up a friendship. The Dayton Gay Men’s Chorus is one option, while the transgender Rubi Girls dance party is another.

Pride Day is held in June. It allows all LGBT members of the community to join together to celebrate. A community breakfast, color run, and parade are just a few of the events held during this timeframe.

Equality Ohio focuses on finding events in the area where LGBT members can come together. Bossy Grrl’s Pin UP Joint provides a happy hour where bisexual and pansexual men and women are invited to join in on conversation. The Columbus Ohio Gay Lesbian Ally Hockey Association holds a Pride Night in support of the Cleveland Monsters. The event follows the big game. Modo Yoga is also a business in the area in support of the LGBT community. Anyone can join a class and gain some mental and physical clarity.

Finding Support in Dayton

Gay Dayton offers a variety of support and spiritual groups that men and women can attend. Eternal Joy Metropolitan Community Church, Annunciation National Catholic Church, and the Celebration of Life Church are all possible places to attend. The Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is very welcoming of all LGBTQ people.

Those not interested in a religious aspect can find support elsewhere. Valley Gems is a support group for transsexuals. The Miami Valley Ohio Prime Timers is a group specifically for mature bisexual or gay men. The group meets every third Sunday of the month, usually at a member’s house. Get togethers are held at a park during the summer months, typically the Five Rivers Metro Park. Movie nights out, coffee dates, and monthly meetings are all possible with this group. Interested parties can search their calendar for a list of weekly events that are coming up.
