Corpus Christi Catholic charities and local churches provide meal service, health care, senior centers, housing options, and transportation to seniors. The Diocese of Corpus Christi and other Catholic charities offer these services to increase the quality of life and offer seniors support they need to live independently.

Corpus Christi provides Catholic inclusive senior living to all

Villa Maria Senior Citizen Community was created in 1984 by the Diocese of Corpus Christi to foster the spiritual life of seniors and to provide a superior living facility within a Catholic environment. Villa Maria holds chapel mass three times a week and another time on Sunday. There is a meditation garden to help seniors relax and enjoy their surroundings. There are 48 apartments, and you will want to contact the facility immediately as there may be waiting lists. Residents enjoy recreational activities and health assistance from a caring staff.

Homebound seniors can receive delivered meals and home assistance through Catholic Charities and area churches. Also, seniors and families can request a routine safety and friendly visits to ensure a safe living environment. Texas Wheels Program provides seniors transportation throughout Texas.

Health aid for all seniors

Catholic Charities provide numerous programs that focus on the health and well-being of area seniors. Seniors can apply for help with food, health care, and housing.

Corpus Christi Metro Ministries offers qualified residents health and medical care program as part of the Dr. James Gabbard Memorial Health Clinic. Services include prescription assistance, eye care, and exams along with glasses.

Area churches also offer support groups for both mental and physical well-being of individuals. Our Lady of Perpetual Help provides community outreach groups to assist others with various house projects including building ramps to get homes ready for wheelchairs.

Catholic health care is readily available through the CHRISTUS Health System. You can find physicians and clinics that accept and practice the Catholic ministry of Jesus Christ in treatment and cures. They also offer home care, hospice services, and health education programs. With more than 2,700 medical and associate employees, CHRISTUS Continuing Care is one of the largest faith non-profit care organizations in the United States. CHRISTUS Spohn is located in Corpus Christi and offers services such as rehabilitation, heart treatment, joint replacement services, surgical services, and spiritual care. They also provide a health library to assist you with learning about your medical condition and treatment. You can also take a health assessment to make sure you are in your best physical condition.

There are various support groups to aid seniors dealing with health conditions such as cancer, grief, Alzheimer’s group, and other recoveries. The mission of Mercy Mobile Medical Clinic is for those who have little or no medical care and alternates locations every other Monday in Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi is currently constructing a medical guild under the diocesan direction. These doctors support the principles of Catholic faith and use Catholic ethics while practicing medicine.
