The Golden Buckeye Card

On your 60th birthday, you should automatically receive the golden buckeye card. It is issued to anyone in the state of Ohio once they reach this age. Those under 60 can apply for the card if they are on disability or otherwise feel they should be eligible. You can apply at a senior center or your local library. The card tells participating businesses that you are a senior citizen and eligible to receive a discount. Nearly 20,000 different locations participate in the program throughout the U.S.

Cleveland Opera Theater

The Cleveland Opera Theater is well-known in the city for putting on incredible shows with the help of a talented orchestra. It opened its doors in 2006. The theater allows seniors with a buckeye card to receive a discount on tickets. You can receive up to 30% off for tickets purchased within two weeks of the event.

JACK Cleveland Casino

The lively casino in Cleveland known as JACK requires valet parking. All patrons must pay to have their cars parked in the parking garage. You can buy a membership card in order to avoid this fee. The higher the membership, the more discounts offered. Seniors over the age of 55 do not have to pay for their parking. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, you can receive free parking at JACK Cleveland Casino.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame opens at 10 a.m. each day and does not close until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A quicker closing time of 5:30 p.m. is available any other day of the week. A number of exhibits fill the hallways, featuring items from famous rock & roll musicians throughout time. Special exhibits and events are sometimes available. Seniors over the age of 65 receive a discounted admission.

Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Getting around the city is made easier with the help of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. You can take the bus, train, or trolley using this transit system. You can pay a small fee for each ride, or purchase a trip card or monthly pass that allow you to pay more for frequent trips. Seniors age 65 and older receive a discounted fare.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Rotating exhibits make it worthwhile to visit the Cleveland Museum of Natural History often. There is always something new to see. Seniors with a buckeye card can get in for just $10. The museum is open every day of the week, except for holidays. A planetarium, wildlife center, and discovery center are all available.
