Catholic Health Care in Cincinnati

Catholic health care services for the elderly are plentiful in Cincinnati. A number of locations are spread throughout the city to provide services to senior citizens. Numerous comprehensive care options are available, from assisting with daily tasks, to providing companionship.

Comprehensive Services By Catholic Charities

The Catholic Charities in Southwestern Ohio offer comprehensive services to those over the age of 55. Not only do seniors need assistance with daily activities, health care options, and transportation, but many simply need companionship. A Senior Companions and Foster Grandparent Program are both offered through the organization.

The Foster Grandparent Program focuses on finding seniors willing to speak to disadvantaged youth. Many head to schools and other facilities in order to help with homework, perform motivational speaking, and simply provide mentoring and guidance to kids who need it. It is often a rewarding experience for all parties involved.

The Senior Companions Program has been running since 1968. The program finds volunteers willing to spend time with seniors and providing companionship during a difficult time. Much of the time is spent socializing, such as enjoying a shopping trip, playing cards, and even just talking. Some companions also assist with daily needs and regular transportation.

Mercy Health Hospitals

Mercy Health, formerly Catholic Health Partners, offers several services throughout Ohio and Kentucky. Multiple hospitals are available to provide health care in Cincinnati alone. Five options are available, including Anderson, Clermont, Fairfield, West, and the Jewish Hospital.

West Park has a focus on senior living. Residential care is provided in the one and two bedroom options. Full kitchens are available in many of the living spaces so residents can make their own meals, or have someone come in and make it for them. There is also a dining room where all residents can eat together. Short-term rehabilitation services are also available. Private rooms are available so seniors can work alone with their therapist.

Sisters of Charity Partnered With Bayley

Bayley, an organization that is designed to support seniors, is partnered with Sisters of Charity. Together, a number of inclusive services are provided to members of the community. A living facility is available for those who need round the clock care. Those living independently can still gain access to other services that are needed. This includes:

an adult day program

outpatient rehab

home services

fitness club

The Bayley campus offers memberships to those interested in joining the fitness club. A number of group classes are available, providing a chance to bike, do yoga, or perform water aerobics in the provided pool. A personalized fitness program is also available, as well as a personal fitness assessment. Any adult over the age of 18 can try for membership. This program is extremely beneficial to seniors as it ensures they are getting exercise and moving muscles that often do not get used in old age. You can visit the SeniorAdvisor website to search for additional in-home care options. A number of organizations are available to assist with health care for seniors.
