Chandler Rehab Centers

Nursing homes and assisted living offer more than just permanent residential living. Around a third of residents in these centers are short-term rehabilitation patients, and this is because they offer a variety of therapy to patients. If you need additional rehabilitation to speed up your recovery from a serious illness, stroke, heart attack, or surgery, here are some guidelines to help you find the right place for you to aid your recovery.

What you can expect during rehab

With the expert care you need, your recovery will be more smooth and effective. Your goal is to return to your independent living you enjoyed before the surgery or illness. As you begin your search, you may notice that the rehab you need has various names including short-term, post-acute, and transitional rehab. They all are the same and will aid in your recovery. After you choose a facility and enter, you will be evaluated to see what services are needed. Your doctor will work with the staff to ensure you have the best plan for your recuperation.

Each plan is different for every patient. Stroke patients may need speech therapy. A knee or hip replacement patient will most likely need pain management after surgery. Therapy available includes physical, occupational, and speech to get you back on your feet. Your evaluation with your doctor and staff will determine if you need services daily or multiple times a week.

The search begins

There are a variety of options in the Chandler-area for rehab centers. Here are some of the top rated centers on SeniorAdvisor.com:

Brookdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center provides the resources found at a hospital in a more relaxing environment.

Desert Cove Nursing Center is located directly across from the Chandler Regional Medical Center. They focus on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation with a skilled nursing staff.

Archstone Care Center offers 24/7 empathetic nursing care with comprehensive therapies in a warm family-like setting.

Your physician and surgeon will most likely give you recommendations based on your condition. Also, ask around for referrals and read online reviews before deciding which facility to choose.

Setting your standards

You need the best care possible to recover. You can learn a lot about a place based on others experiences, so you should ask around. Make sure the center is clean and has passed state inspections with ease. You will also need to check that Medicare is accepted or the facility is Medicaid-certified.

Paying the bills

Medicare should cover skilled nursing care when you use an approved facility and meet the following conditions:

You need Medicare Part A to cover this stay. You will also need days left in your benefit period.

To qualify for rehab, you must be in the hospital for three consecutive days (not including the first day of admission).

Your condition needs to require rehabilitation services.

Lastly, your doctor or surgeon must prescribe this treatment.

If you are not eligible for Medicare, long-term care insurance or Medicaid may cover therapy. For Medicaid, the rehab center must be Medicaid-certified. Please be aware that not all services are covered so you may want to check into what’s prescribed and if it’s covered before beginning treatment, or ask your doctor about the recovery plan ahead of time. You will have to pay for non-covered items out of your wallet.
