Anaheim Senior Centers

Seniors who want to get the most out of their retirement years don’t need to look much further than their hometown of Anaheim. You can head back to the classroom to learn new things, perform on stage by singing or dancing with a local group, find new people to travel with, and even work on your fitness. There are plenty of opportunities to relax as well; it’s all about what you want to do with your time.

When You Want To Catch Up Over Cards

Card games are a simple way to unwind and talk with old friends. The Active Older Adults Club in Anaheim hosts weekly games of bridge and canasta at the East Anaheim Community Center. You can also find various card games at the Anaheim location of the Ezra Center of Orange County.

When You Want To Hit The Books

It might have been a while since you stepped inside a classroom with the intention of learning something new, but now is a perfect time. There are plenty of continuing education courses geared towards seniors. The Older Adults Program at the School of Continuing Education is a great way to learn more about topics such as art, writing, business, and health for aging adults. There is an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at California State University Fullerton that allows seniors 50 and over to pay an annual fee to take courses on campus.

When You Want To Work On Your Health

Maybe you’ve never worked out a day in your life but know that it’s important to maintain strength and balance as you age. Senior fitness centers and classes are a great opportunity. You can find low impact fitness classes with the Active Older Adults program or classes that work on balance and mobility. The Orange Senior Center has Tai Chi and strength classes as well as programs for those with arthritis.

When You Want To Take The Stage

Don’t let your age hinder your dream to be a star because there are plenty of chances now that you’re retired. Women can join the Orange County Women’s Chorus by audition. The Orange Community Master Chorale is open to anyone and performs all over the country so you can travel and sing. You can find dance groups and lessons through the Anaheim Senior Citizens Club.

When You Want To Make A New Friend

Many seniors shy away from making new friends because they fear it will be too difficult but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Meetups are an easy way to find other seniors that share your interests. There are social clubs for adults over 60 or Anaheim seniors over 50. You can even find meetups for single seniors if you’re ready to get back into the dating game.

When You Want To Fulfill Your Wanderlust

Always dreamed of traveling but never had the time? Now that you’re retired you do, and it’s not as complicated as you think. Orange County Active Seniors offers a lot of great services for senior citizens, but their travel section makes it easy to find tours, book trips, learn travel tips, and read about other traveler’s experiences. AARP members should also use the travel section to find discounts on flights and other travel needs.
